Monday June 12 marks the tragic one year anniversary of the Orlando shooting that occurred at the Pulse gay nightclub where hate and bigotry claimed the lives of 49 people.
Join Pajaro Valley Pride for an evening dedicated to sharing words, and holding space where we can continue to show our solidarity with the ongoing march for equality. Tragedies like these reminds us that we yet have work to do, and why it's important to stand together regardless of social creeds and backgrounds. Only united in love can we come closer to a peaceful society where these events will only linger as historical memories.
Starting at 6pm we'll have an open mic session at Second Street Cafe (28 2nd Street #100) in Watsonville until 7:30. Let's share poems, music, thoughts, ideas, and art, which all contribute to our healing and to our resolve to move forward.
Then from 7:30pm until 8:30pm we'll walk to the Watsonville downtown plaza for a vigil honoring and remembering those lives lost at the Pulse nightclub.
We ask all those planning to participate to be mindful of the space we are collectively creating, and that we are thoughtful with what we want to share.
